How the price in Bangladesh is calculated
We take the live gold price in US dollars per troy ounce (31.1035 grams), multiply it by the USD/BDT exchange rate and divide by the weight of the unit. Karat prices multiply by the purity: 22K is 91.67%, 18K is 75%.
Because the dollar price and the exchange rate both change, the price in BDT can move even when the dollar price of gold is flat. A weaker BDT raises the local price of gold.
