What moves the wti crude price?
- OPEC+ decisions. Production targets from OPEC+ members are among the most watched drivers of supply.
- US inventories and output. Weekly EIA stock data and shale production trends affect WTI more directly than other benchmarks.
- Global demand. Economic growth, refinery runs and travel demand shape consumption.
- Geopolitics. Conflict or sanctions in producing regions can add a risk premium quickly.
- The US dollar. Oil is priced in dollars, so currency moves influence the cost for importers.
